What is Livepeer (LPT)?
Livepeer is a decentralized video transcoding network built on the Ethereum blockchain. The protocol enables cost-efficient broadcasting and streaming services natively in the video layer of the Web 3.0 stack.
How was Livepeer Token LPT being distributed?
63.44% of the intial 10,000,000 tokens were distributed to the community between Jul. and Oct. 2018.
19% were sold in a private pre-sale. They are vested over 18 month.
12.35% were distributed to founders and team-members. These are vested over 36 month.
Another 5% are kept by the team as a reserve to support the project.
Who is the team behind Livepeer?
Livepeer has 15 public team members, who maintain the open-source code and promote the project within the crypto industry.
The founders of Livepeer are Doug Petkanics and Eric Tang.
How to run a Livepeer Orchestrator Node?
By running an Orchestrator node, you will be participating in the process of transcoding video on the Livepeer network. As a reward, your node will receive both inflationary LPT rewards and fees denominated in ETH which are paid by individuals broadcasting video.
Right to complete work, which translates into rewards earned, is a function of how much LPT is staked to your node. This is a combination of your personal stake and the stake of others who have decided to bond their LPT to your node.
Currently, there can be a network maximum of 100 orchestrator nodes
How to delegate Livepeer (LPT)
Every token holder has the right to delegate their tokens to an Orchestrator node for the right to receive both inflationary rewards in LPT and fees denominated in ETH from work completed by that node. To delegate to an Orchestrator, visit the Livepeer Explorer and login with your Web 3.0 enabled wallet.
