Staking Bitcoin with Stroom allows you to earn Bitcoin native yield on the Lightning Network, explore new DeFi opportunities while keeping your BTC liquid.

To stake with Stroom, users simply need to deposit their Bitcoin into the project's treasury. After doing so, they can mint either stBTC or bstBTC tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. The Stroom DAO automates the conversion of Bitcoin deposits into LN channels and manages the distribution of rewards to users. These tokens, stBTC and bstBTC, integrate seamlessly with the broader Ethereum DeFi ecosystem, similar to other assets like Lido Finance's stETH.

When BTC is deposited for the minting of stBTC or bstBTC, it is allocated into Lightning Network channels by Stroom-enabled LN hubs to generate rewards. The hub balances are continually monitored, and the generated revenues are redistributed to token holders daily, similar to how Lido distributes rewards, minus any service fees.
